Revenue sources: The funding model of the journal relies on Article Processing Charges (APC). Additionally, we warmly welcome sponsorships and institutional support. Due to the generous support of our sponsors, the journal frequently facilitates the publication of papers without requiring payment of APCs. Please check the author guidelines to see if papers for the next issue have been sponsored.
Science, Engineering and Technology journal adopts a continuous publication model, whereby articles are promptly (continuously) published online upon completion of the peer-review, acceptance, and copy-editing processes. These articles are accessible and searchable on the journal website under the 'Online First' section, preceding the print edition. The journal organizes these publications into archival 'volumes' (one per year) and 'issues' (two issues per year), released in April and October.
Although articles published online first do not yet have page numbers, readers can access them well in advance of their print publication. This online-first approach significantly accelerates the dissemination of critical research findings within the scientific community.
Furthermore, the journal intends to arrange special issues aimed at compiling collections of articles centered on specific topics. These special issues will be curated by Guest Editors, esteemed authorities in their respective fields.
Special issues are an integral part of our journal's commitment to disseminating cutting-edge research and fostering scholarly discourse within our field. A special issue is a a collection of articles focused on a specific theme or topic within the scope of a journal. These issues aim to highlight recent advancements, provide in-depth analyses, or address emerging trends within the chosen subject area. Publishing a special issue allows us to delve deeply into a particular area of research, fostering discussion and advancing knowledge within the scientific community. It provides readers with a consolidated resource on a specific topic, emphasizing significant sub-disciplines, or exploring new cross-disciplinary applications.
Proposals/procedures: Special issues can be initiated by the journal's Editorial Board or by guest editors who are experts in the field. They may arise from conferences, workshops, or collaborations among researchers. The process involves a call for papers, peer review of submissions, and selection of articles that meet the criteria for publication. Proposals will undergo rigorous evaluation by the Editorial Board to assess their relevance, originality, and contribution to the field (the proposal's content) as well as the qualifications and credentials of the guest editors. The decision to approve a special issue proposal rests with the Editor-in-Chief. We encourage submissions for special issues that align with our quality standards and demonstrate suitable qualifications. Nonetheless, we retain the discretion to decline applications that do not meet our criteria for suitability and qualification.
Guest editors may be selected by the journal's Editorial Board or invited by the Editor-in-Chief based on their expertise and reputation in the field. Authors interested in guest editing a special issue should submit a proposal to the Editorial office via email info@setjournal.com.
Please ensure that your proposal aligns with the scope of the journal to which you are submitting. The Special Issue should strike a balance, being sufficiently broad to solicit a diverse range of submissions, yet focused enough to curate a coherent collection of articles. It is essential that the Special Issue addresses a specific subset of the journal's scope, rather than attempting to encompass its entirety. The proposal should include the following information:

Additional information
Content Relevance: The Special Issue Editors, which may include Guest Editors and/or Editorial Board members, are responsible for ensuring that the content published in the Special Issue aligns with the designated title and scope of the journal. The journal's editor maintains the authority to evaluate the content for relevance.
Timeline: The timeline for the special issue will be collaboratively determined by the special issue editor(s) in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief. The special issue will be formally announced on the journal's website, with the submission deadline clearly communicated.
Guest Editors: Guest editors play a crucial role in the publication of special issues. The qualifications required for a Guest Editor include: A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a relevant field, demonstrated expertise and research experience in the specific topic or area covered by the special issue, previous editorial experience (e.g. serving on editorial boards, reviewing manuscripts, or editing publications), recognition and reputation within the academic community, evidenced by publications, citations, and contributions to the field. Therefore, Guest editors are typically experts in their respective fields responsible for:
Serving as a guest editor for a special issue can enhance an individual's visibility and reputation within their field. It demonstrates leadership, expertise, and a commitment to advancing knowledge through scholarly publication. Upon successful publication of the Special Issue, Guest Editors will receive a certificate of recognition, acknowledging their contributions to advancing scholarly discourse within the field. Additionally, Guest Editors are eligible for a 100% discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC) for one submission to Science, Engineering and Technology journal.
Submission: Authors submitting to a special issue should adhere to the journal’s submission guidelines and policies. All manuscripts will undergo peer review following the journal's standard procedures. The editor and reviewers handle all article submissions online through the Open Journal Systems (OJS).
Guest Editor Submissions: The special issue may consider submissions from the guest editor, but typically, the number should not exceed one per editor unless explicitly approved by the Editor-in-Chief. Furthermore, the guest editor should abstain from participating in decisions regarding articles authored by themselves. Any submission authored by a guest editor must undergo peer review conducted independently of the relevant guest editor or co-editor and their affiliated research groups. A clear statement to this effect should accompany any published article authored by a guest editor. Therefore, the statement titled 'Transparent Statement' (independent review for editorial board member manuscripts) should be incorporated into the article.
Selection of reviewers: Research articles should generally undergo review by a minimum of two external and independent reviewers. As a guest editor, it's imperative to select reviewers with appropriate expertise in the field. Additionally, you are responsible for reviewing all disclosures of potential conflicts of interest made by reviewers to assess any potential for bias. The review procedure remain consistent with those of the regular issues.
Note 1: A special issue typically comprises between 5 and 20 full-length articles, accompanied by an editorial authored by the special issue editors. Considering the rigorous peer review process, it is prudent to consider a greater number of submissions than initially anticipated as the upper limit. Should fewer than 5 articles be accepted for publication, these will be featured as stand-alone articles in the regular issues of the journal.
Note 2: The review procedure and other guidelines (including Publication Ethics, Open Access, Copyright & Licensing, Repository Policy, etc.) remain consistent with those of the regular issues. Special issues adhere to the same stringent ethical standards as regular journal issues. In the event of any detected unethical practices, the Editor-in-Chief retains the authority to cancel the special issue.
